There were cheeseburgers

kathyleighberkowitz

Mama was a waitress at a local burger joint in Indiana, and Daddy was a U.S. Army soldier home on leave getting a meal at said joint when their eyes met for the first time. I'm guessing that with her pretty blue eyes and that cute hair and with his handsome green eyes and charm ..

It was a match made in heaven.

Even now, they both love burgers and fries.

Cheeseburgers and I got our start when I would occasionally go to one of my aunt's farms in the country.

That said, I've never been one to count them as my go-to food. (My secret crave is the chicken nuggets, fries and large coffee from the golden arches.)

Eat better. More fiber. More fruit. More veges.

Heck, just eat breakfast, for a start.

Son Aaron makes his eggs and grits .. every day. Even if he is going for eggs and grits, he will make a to-go plate before he goes to breakfast. (A tall slender man, I told him how very hobbit of you to eat two breakfasts.)

Food and memories, I think, go hand in hand.

Pizza reminds me of church youth nights.

Salad reminds me of when I was in high school and extremely overweight (no, really, the doctor told my Grandma you'd better put her on a diet.)

Thai food reminds me of healing. It is good for all that ails you.

Mexican food leads to creativity. I always feel satisfied.

Asian food likewise makes me smile.

We have so many choices today, instead of the way things were when I was growing up.

I commit to this, I'll eat better tomorrow.

There were cheeseburgers today.

Lol.

There is a local hamburger joint that I frequent with coworkers and also with my family, and my bestie and her family. Today, I visited and saw an article I wrote in our newspaper about the restaurant .. framed and on the wall. Pretty cool!

They have other things to eat. One of these days I'll have to try a salad.

Then that means I need to eat breakfast, so I don't pack on the burgers at lunchtime.

Amazing how food is so much a part of our lives. I remember going to the beach as a child and enjoying a peach ice cream cone. I still love them today.
