Excuses, excuses

As I quickly shuffled across the rough parking lot to my afternoon workout at the gym, I noticed the trail of a milkshake someone, perhaps a kid, had dropped on the pavement, and thought wow ..
The visual described my energy.
Admittedly, 5:30 p.m. is not my most productive time of the day. But neither is 5 a.m., lol, so there is that.
Having received a weather notification on my phone, it was clear. The skies were about to unleash the fury of their pent up energy. And I thought, you know, I could make every excuse in the world not to go to the gym.
Then I thought of my goals. It's not about being pretty or attractive, or even being smaller or losing weight.
I need to move. More.
So I toted my flower embossed gym bag and pushed through the gym door, looking like an exhausted cream puff (my description of a person who seems more inclined to sew than lift weights, although I also enjoy sewing). Or a person with no strength. Etc.
And I thought, this bag does not match my multi-colored dress, and for sure, everyone will think I am an old lady.
But I made it in, scanned my card, and was on my way.
Then I saw her. A woman who appears to be significantly older than me. With her cute trendy haircut, a pair of lemon sunshine tennis shoes that matched her workout shirt, and her tanned face .. and her muscles .. and her smile. It hit me .. this is the why for working out. I don't know what excuses she had to fight to make it to the gym or if she naturally just does that because it is her favorite thing to do.
But it was obvious that she was there, happy to be there, and even more, happy to be alive.
I don't hold lofty fitness goals. Honestly, I just want to stay mobile and get some flexibility and grace. Plus it helps me sleep. And think. And be kind.
Weird.
On a side note, I figure on rewarding myself in a couple months with new workout shoes.
They will be on sale of course.
❤️
Gym it is today. Make the time for yourself. Watched a video this morning on fitness and wondered why it is that we have to pay for something we should really already know. ie what foods are good for us, how to lose, what exercises to do. I believe it's all about seeing the motivation as a daily reminder of why are we doing this.
Keep it up!
